Kristin Reed

Coming from a background of gymnastics and modern dance, Kristin was first attracted to yoga by its physical benefits and discipline. However, once she began she quickly found the true gift of the practice: peace of mind and emotional health and well-being. Kristin completed her 500hr training from Sunstone Academy in 2009 and has been in love with teaching ever since.
Kristin’s greatest passion is helping others connect with and find freedom in their bodies so that they can move and live to their fullest potential. Her classes emphasize building a solid foundation with strength and proper alignment, while also finding ease in asana and cultivating careful observation of the body and mind.  Outside the classroom Kristin works one-on-one with students as an LMT and practices Traditional Thai Massage. This combines bodywork and herbal therapies to help bring clients physically, mentally, and emotionally back into balance.  You can read more about her work at www.precisionbodyworks.net
More Information

What’s your favorite yoga pose at the moment?

At the moment – heart openers.  All the time though?Anything balancing upside down.  Being upside down is my absolute favorite!

Describe a moment during a yoga practice that rocked your world.

I would say the first time I received Vedic Thai Assisted Yoga.  Everything about it – the stretching, the compression, the muscle and fascial release, the meditation… It penetrated so deep to the core of my being.  Never felt anything like it before!  It was the missing piece for me.

What’s your favorite place?

Monterey, CA where my grandparents lived.  I don’t know why but it is the most beautiful and relaxing place on earth to me.

What is your favorite color?

I constantly waver between green, blue and purple.  Although sometimes I really think it is red…

Whom do you admire?

Anyone facing their fears.  Anyone being their authentic self.

What traits in others are you attracted to?

Confidence, lightheartedness, humility.

What is the kindest thing anyone has done for you?

Too many things to count.  I am constantly in awe of all the random acts of kindness I find each day.

Favorite book:

I really don’t read as much as I would like, but if I’m reading non-fiction I love Breakfast of Champions or anything by Kurt Vonnegut.

Besides yoga, loves…

Modern dance, kitties, world travel with my husband, laughing, making new friends, cooking…
