Whether you are a yoga teacher or a dedicated practitioner, you’ll learn how to approach inversions – either for your own practice or to teach – in a safer, more accessible way.

Taught by a veteran physical therapist and professional yoga therapist, you’ll better understand the anatomy and kinesiology of being upside down, benefits of doing so, as well as prerequisites to build safe inversions.

We’ll focus on:

  • Shoulderstand
  • Headstand
  • Forearmstand
  • Handstand

Shoulderstand and Headstand:

Frequently offered in group yoga classes without much instruction, these inversions have specific anatomical considerations because of weight bearing on the cervical spine. We’ll review how to do head + shoulder stand  step by step, adaptations for different bodies, variations that work for some, safety concerns, and use of props.

Forearmstand and Handstand:

Aside from technique, you’ll learn the unique strength and flexibility required for these poses, including step by step instructions for practice and foundations to get there.
