Yoon Lee

Yoon is a former Korean Zen Buddhist monk and the founder/owner of Yoon’s Yoga Bliss. He opened his first yoga studio in South Korea in 2002. His studio and teaching methods were featured on a Korean National TV documentary about stress. With the success of his first yoga studio, Yoon opened his second school in 2004. He has led yoga retreats both nationally and internationally and has taught yoga to over 5,000 students over the course of ten years.
Currently, Yoon is a popular yoga teacher in the Seattle area who brings his years of experience in the monastery to his teaching. He was also a guest lecturer and featured yoga teacher, along with 30 other teachers, as part of the first annual Hawaii Yoga Festival in November 2013 at Kalani on the Big Island of Hawaii.  He was invited to teach yoga at Microsoft and Washington Mutual Bank as part of their Employee Wellness Programs.

What’s your favorite yoga pose at the moment?

Savasana, because when I am in resting, I feel my energy body swirl and dance and smile comes to my face and happiness arise.

 

Describe a moment during a yoga practice that rocked your world.

There is a moment when energy flow all different part of our body, we feel expanded energy rising from us and also it lead to realization that we are more than body and thinking mind. We land very beautiful space within our body When we cultivate our energy and clarity through yoga practice. That is the beautiful moment we all feel deep gratitude about our being here.

 

What’s your favorite place?

I love big island in Hawaii. I feel deep bonding when I am in big island. The energy of big island  pulsate through my heart and entire of body.

 

What is your favorite color? Why?

I love transparent blue color because it represent infinite possibilities for me.

I like to swim in that field.

 

Whom do you admire?

I admire the people who have a passion about their life. When people become excited about their dream and passion, our spirit become really alive. I see this perspective of as spiritual practice not because of practice of meditation or practice yoga. We all are spiritual being and need to spark on our spirit.

 

What traits in others are you attracted to?

Honestly I don’t know, but I like to be me as as I am and like to share what I understand and experienced. When I see people’s big smile when I finish the class, it makes my heart sing.

Maybe my chanting is very nice, Om…

 

What is the kindest thing anyone has done for you?

There are many beautiful moment when I received kindness.

When I was in India about 20 years ago, I spent all my money because of my miscalculation about dig difference between south India and north India. So I was sitting in front of Osho’s Ashram and worrying about how can I go back to my country. That moment one Indian man approached to me and said ” hello, my friend, you seems like having some difficulties and let me hear about your problem, so I can help you if I can.”So I share what I am experiencing that moment. So he took me his friend who can help my financial situation that time. He lend me 2000 rupees without any other questions. I was so lucky to receive that money and I can come back to my country that time because of one indian man’s kindness and offering.

 

Favorite book:

Recently I am enjoying to read this book. The book name is The lazy man’s guide to enlightenment by Thaddeus Goals.

 

Besides yoga, loves….

I love hiking, traveling, music, meeting beautiful people, books, conversations with good friends, cooking delicious meals which I can feel happy inside and out, beautiful sunset, children’s smile, sparkling water, good movies and french croissant with mocha with rice milk, beautiful asian orchid, teas and silence. Walking under bamboo forest, watching night sky and life itself.

 

Favorite thing about Twist Yoga?

I love this community because it permeate sweet love energy from studio. So if you are there for the practice, we all soak in that sweet love in this space. We all carry this wonderful energy after finish our practice. I think we all creating this beautiful energy between each other and benefit from this correlation of amazing energy.
