Melissa Lange

Melissa has been involved in the Seattle yoga community since 2011, and loves being a part of the management team at Twist. She is an RYT 200 with experience teaching both Hatha and Vinyasa, and was apprentice to a local teacher trainer, in hopes of directing an instructor certification program some day. Melissa graduated from Bastyr University in 2013 with a degree in Nutrition and Exercise Science, and is passionate about cultivating wellness through food and movement.

What’s your favorite yoga pose at the moment?

Anything on one leg. I love balancing postures.

 

Describe a moment during a yoga practice that rocked your world.

Practicing for the first time after pregnancy! It felt so so wonderful to be in child’s pose after months of being physically unable to.

 

What’s your favorite place?

Napili Bay in Maui

 

What’s your favorite color?

Green. It’s vibrant and to me, signifies life, growth, and health.

 

Whom do you admire?

Emma Watson. This is so nerdy, but I have always been a huge fan of the Harry Potter series, and love that Emma is just as much of a badass in reality as she was in the movies as Hermione. She currently plays a major role in both the HeForShe movement and UN Women – both are efforts that strive for global gender equality.

 

What traits in others are you attracted to?

I love people who are genuine. A good sense of humor never hurts either!

 

What is the kindest thing anyone has done for you?

My husband took time off work at the end of my pregnancy to enjoy our last few days as a party of two.

Fiction: Harry Potter series

Non-Fiction: Animal Vegetable Miracle
