Bridgette Dillan

Bridgette came to yoga searching for a way to rehabilitate injuries she sustained from lifelong involvement in elite athletics.

She found an immediate love for the practice and it has led her on a journey where she has not only healed the physical aches of her past, but also healed her soul.

Bridgette graduated from the Twist Yoga School 200-hour teacher training program in July of 2013. After graduating, she had a strong desire to continue her yoga education, and is currently enrolled in the Twist Yoga School 500-hour teaching training program.

Bridgette’s experience with elite level gymnastics and diving, combined with her own experience healing injuries from competition, has given her a unique perspective and insight into rehabilitative aspects of yoga.

When she is not practicing yoga, Bridgette is a professional artist with an Associate of Fine Arts Degree in Painting & Drawing.

More Information

What’s your favorite yoga pose at the moment?

I have 2 favorite yoga poses, Child’s Pose and Tree Pose.

Describe a moment during a yoga practice that rocked your world.

Attending an Ayurvedic workshop in October of 2014 at Twist we used singing bowls. In Svasana the yoga instructor started tuning the yoga bowls then placed one “singing” bowl right in the middle of the heart center. Within 20 seconds of feeling the vibration of the singing bowl run through the front of my body to the back of my body, all the pain that I was carrying in my spine from a gymnastics injury 20 years earlier, right between the shoulder blades, left my body. Next, the back of my heart center filled with a warm light, and I have been pain free in that spot ever since.

What’s your favorite place?

My favorite places in the world are either on a tropical beach or up in the mountains. I like the warm sand beneath my feet to ground my energy and I also like the fresh mountain air to cleanse my body.

What is your favorite color? Why?

Purple. My favorite color is purple. Always has been. When I see or think of purple it reminds me of the Divine. I feel it right between my eyebrows and it helps me feel and stay connected, grounded, and full of joy.

Whom do you admire?

I admire kids. They are authentic, honest, imaginative, and they show us how to listen to our hearts.

What traits in others are you attracted to?

I am attracted to pure joy! Someone who holds joy in their heart and soul will glow with an awe inspiring light.

What is the kindest thing anyone has done for you?

The kindest thing anyone has ever done for me was when Scott helped me build and plant my very own garden after my kitty cat passed away when she was only 5. I was heartbroken and I wanted to plant a garden, but I didn’t know where to start. Scott took the next 2 days to teach me how to build a one. We made the garden in the front yard by first screwing (4) 2x4s together in a square for the bed. Next, Scott showed me what kind of organic/all natural/non-chemical soil we should use, he also helped me pick out an arrangement of flowers, herbs, and vegetables to plant, and how to arrange them in the garden bed so that when the plants grew they would grow in each others way. Now this is back in 2010 before I even knew about the “root” and “heart” chakras. But as I dug my hands into the earth to plant seeds, starter plants, and flowers, I felt the energy in my heart and below my feet start to strengthen and fill with joy and love. Scott told me that “gardening and getting the hands dirty with the earth will always heal the heart”. Scott’s patience with me and showing me how to be-rid the pain and guilt of losing my first pet by helping me build my very own garden was one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me.
